Our System is Complicated, though It is Our System
Opinions vary on issues that affect our lives on a daily basis. The issues though seem to stay steadily the same year after year. To often, everyone seems to get lost within the varying opinions, and lose sight of the issue itself and the facts surrounding it. Being caught up in the moment and in the drama of a seemingly important issue drives the adrenaline, pushing the glam into media and mainstream story time. Too often this results in a less than adequate solution to real problems. the issue still exists, with a band aid covering a hemorrhage.
The system we have here in America to repair the pressing issues and solve the important problems happens to be a complicated one. In the simplest form, it is known as a Republic. Coupled with the Republic, is the working concept of Federalism. It is important to know that these two separate ideas, work together in our Government and provide for a unique relationship between the Citizens, State and Federal Government.
The complexity of the system, under the U.S. Constitution, was conceived as a protection to the population from the vary thing it created - The Government. As citizens, we are all bound by this, and burdened then by Laws and Policies that extended from our local Town or Township, through the County and State which we reside, clear to the Capital of Washington, D.C. (Which By the way D.C. is not a State, nor part of one, and the Congress has Power over the area, even over the City itself, much like the Vatican City State. It is an area removed for all practical purposes from the Federalist System.)
The Two Tiers of Government Federal and State, produce Bills & Resolutions (legislation), and out of those come some laws. The US Congress has more than 12,000 pieces of legislation on the table right now. Probably no one has an accurate count of current laws on the books. That does not include State or Local Laws, and the other entity that can make sorts regulation through policy or interpretation - the Political Subdivision. Looking at this from Space, you may now recognize the number/quantity of Laws and Bureaucracy (2010: Federal Employees 4,443,000 (opm.gov)) that we are all under as citizens. Laws, Rules, and Policies from the Federal Government, the State Government, Municipalities, Townships, and the many other Political Subdivisions. (such as a Waste Management District or Safety Service District)
You may steer away from International Law, precedent, and thousands of years of Treatise that affect all of us. That might just be the overwhelming tipping point that causes the towel to be thrown in. The intention is to bring the big blurry picture into focus. Let everyone ponder on the complexity, size, and scope. Once the system is clear, then it is our job to present solutions to the varying problems that affect us. The system really is great, because it truly allows for an individual or group to move legislation or policy through the system and have it enacted, or to have legislation repealed that binds our sense of freedom. Not to mention, we as citizens have the individual power to change the system itself. Though that point is easily discouraged.
The system has been introduced, now its our job to maneuver through it properly, and more important, effectively to fix the problems that bother us on a daily basis. Lets get to work tackling the problems of Taxes, Poverty, Economy, Education, and Living. Stop complaining and start presenting solutions.

Federalism is a political concept in which a group of members are bound together by covenant (Latin: foedus, covenant) with a governing representative head. The term "federalism" is also used to describe a system of government in which sovereignty is constitutionally divided between a central governing authority and constituent political units (such as states or provinces). Federalism is a system based upon democratic rules and institutions in which the power to govern is shared between national and provincial/state governments, creating what is often called a federation. Proponents are often called federalists. - "PER Wikipedia"
A republic is a form of government in which the country is considered a "public matter" (Latin: res publica), not the private concern or property of the rulers, and where offices of states are subsequently directly or indirectly elected or appointed rather than inherited. In modern times, a common simplified definition of a republic is a government where the head of state is not a monarch.
